I remember the morning I received word from James Earl Ray wanting to know if I would represent him.

I was discussing the matter with a group of lawyer friends at the morning coffee gathering, and one of them exclaimed: "I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole!"

"But Jim," I said, I don't plan to use a ten foot pole - I'm gonna use grappling hooks!"

I had made up my mind.
